Heavenly Northumberland Experience The Gun at Ridsdale is a simply wonderful place to stay. The service, facilities, food (well done chef!) , and ambience are exceptional, not to mention the roaring fire in the bar to warm the soul after a walk in the beautiful Northumberland hills. The management team are always keen to share the history of the Gun and offer advice on places to go during your stay. A special mention to Tracey for going over and above by having our morning paper ready at breakfast from the local town of Bellingham! You can't beat that level of service and we are so grateful to all at The Gun. Well done, The Gun, and see you again soon!

Amazing food, lovely people We stopped here whilst on holiday, for a Friday night evening meal after a day walking in The Cheviots. This is a local pub and has an amazing back-story about how it was saved from housing developers, and it's clear the community value it as it was packed! Everyone was very welcoming, with lots of people chatting to us and fussing over our dogs. The service was very friendly, albeit some of the staff were a young and inexperienced, but this was great to see young people from the village getting involved, and didn't impact on our enjoyment of the evening. The menu was limited, which was wholly understandable given the size of the pub and the number of covers they probably serve. The food was fantastic! Neither of our starters or main course would have been out of place in a much more expensive restaurant. Thank you for the welcome and great food. Would recommend.

Friendly and welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 night stay at The Gun. The staff were really welcoming and helpful and The Gun has a very friendly atmosphere. I felt very comfortable as a solo traveller. My room was spacious, spotless and had a very comfortable bed. The ensuite had a great shower and there were good towels. I had breakfast and dinner every day and the food was great with plenty of choice. The view from the picture window in the dining area is amazing. It made a good base for exploring the area's Roman heritage.

Friendly place to stay A good place to stay although it required a taxi to deliver me from Kirkwhelpington, where I finished my 5th day of St Oswald’s Way. The room was well proportioned and I was happy to warm up with a hot shower after a wet and windy day. The dinner was delicious and I enjoyed a big bowl of porridge in the morning. There are other hot menu items available.

Great find Stopped here for lunch on a trip home from Barnsley. What a lovely place. Friendly staff and so clean. And the view from the restaurant was amazing. Wee garden for the dog as well. The food was lovely and so fresh. We only had soup and sandwiches but they were lovely. The menu was full of choices and we will stop again,

A lovely place to stay. We stayed here for two nights and were more than pleased with this beautiful inn. To start with the surrounding scenery is absolutely stunning. We were very early for check in but the very pleasant lady at the bar said we could leave our bags and she would make sure they were put into our room when it was ready. When we came back again we were made more than welcome and our bags were indeed in our room. The room itself was absolutely spotless and very modern. The twin beds were large and extremely comfortable. The bathroom had a lovely shower, and again was spotless. The view from the window was magnificent. We ate in that evening and the food was excellent, plentiful and delicious. Even though the in is on the A68 it was very quiet indeed. A lovely friendly place and we would have no hesitation at all in recommending The Gun Inn to our friends.

STAR QUALITY. Wow, what a find. We stayed for one night in The Gun at Ridsdale, checked in at the bar and the young man showed us up to our room, very polite and courteous. Couldn’t fault the room, spotlessly clean, big bed, good size shower with rain head, plenty hot water, tea and coffee, brilliant. Got settled in and went down stairs for a drink and booked a table for dinner, then out for a short walk. Dinner at night, no starters (got to leave room for pudding) I had the steak which was cooked to perfection, (nice one chef) my wife had the mac and cheese with beef cheek, she loved that. To finish I had the cheese board, wow what a plateful, my wife a piece of cake which they sell during the day, another good choice, service was great the waitress was very helpful and sold us more cake for later! Breakfast in the morning, another wow moment, freshly cooked, quality produce, fantastic. Superb job everyone, keep it up. We will definitely be back to The Gun at Ridsdale, loved it. X
